The new Hyatt Centric Las Olas in downtown Fort Lauderdale just debuted 901, a guest room turned private speakeasy with a bartender-in-residence program that invites stand-out bars from around the country to bring their skills to the space. The pre-Prohibition experience throws it back to the roaring 1920’s, with plush furniture, candlelight, vintage artwork and artifacts. Seating up to six guests at a time, the intimate experience is bookable by reservation only.

Texans may recognize the name of the famed bar that will be popping-up in the speakeasy next. From April 12 - 18 Austin’s Midnight Cowboy will be behind the bar with a curated menu of signature cocktail like the Talk Dirty, made with Grey Goose, tarragon-infused dry vermouth, caper berry juice, and orange bitters, and the Kids These Days, made with Iwai Japanese Whiskey, Aberfeldy 12-year scotch, poppy seed syrup, black lemon, and salt. To complement libations, guests can order Midnight Cowboy's signature onion dip served with the house-made duck fat fried potato chips by the hotel’s Executive Chef Greg McGowan, which are not to be missed.

When there isn’t a guest bartender in residency, 901’s whimsical in-house cocktails are on offer. Drinks like “Late Check Out” made with Woodford Malt, Averna, Amaro notion, Angostura, and Peychau are complemented by bites like Mini Connecticut-Style Lobster Rolls and Roasted Bone Marrow with Spicy Pickled Vegetables.
