During the holiday season, Grapevine transforms to become the Christmas Capital of Texas, offering more than 1,400 events in 40 days between November and January. The magic of Christmas can be felt in the air; the city sparkles and shines as lights are hung and snow flurries fall.

There are so many fun things to do in Grapevine, one article can’t list them all – cheese making, painting with a twist, a Christmas market, food trucks and live music, gingerbread decorating, shopping in dozens of locally owned boutiques, dining in fabulous and delectable local restaurants, Legoland, a brewery tour, milk and cookies with Mrs. Claus, the Grapevine Wine Tour, golf – well, you can spend a week and not be bored.

Find the ICE! exhibit at Gaylord Texan Resort. Christmas Around the World is the theme which more than 40 Chinese artisans, using two million pounds of ice, will carve into seasonal sculptures including a nativity and your favorite holiday characters. Check out the live ice carving zone as skilled carvers sculpt spectacular masterpieces right before your eyes. Parkas are provided but visitors are encouraged to bring their own gloves as temperatures can get chilly. And don’t forget a camera, photo ops abound. Santa’s Wild Workshop
Looking for even more fun? Gaylord Texan resort offers indoor snow tubing! After you’ve taken in the sights of the season like Gaylord Texan’s life-size gingerbread house and 54-foot-tall Christmas tree, unleash your adventurous side as you fly down ice slides made from 1.5 million pounds of real Texas snow. Every December at Great Wolf Lodge you’ll find Snowland, where kids can be a kid and adults are kids at heart. Cozy up for nightly story time, sing along to Christmas carols or compete in the Polar Bear Race at the indoor water park. North Pole Express
For a truly magical experience, put on your most festive winter pajamas and board the North Pole Express. Santa’s elves will be there to greet you as you prepare for your journey to the North Pole. As the train approaches, Mrs. Claus will hand each child a silver bell and alert guests that Santa is near. Upon arrival, walk the Christmas Tree Trail up to Santa’s workshop where you’ll get a chance to meet Santa and enjoy a cup of Frosty Chocolate Snow Milk. Christmas Wine Train
For those who are 21 and older, hop on the Christmas Wine Train. Enjoy a two-hour ride on a 1920’s vintage coach – each coach features a different Grapevine winery. The ride includes hors d’oeuvres, wine and a souvenir wine glass. Tickets will be available for purchase in the fall. $45 includes two glasses of wine and food. Palace Theatre 
There’s no better place to enjoy your favorite Christmas classics than at the beautiful Palace Theatre. Main Street
Historic Downtown Grapevine glitters with more than a million lights hung from shops and restaurants along Main Street. Various events are offered each weekend throughout the holiday season. Enjoy the Carol of Lights at Town Square Gazebo, the Downtown Grapevine Parade of Lights, tractor-drawn wagon rides, endless shopping, dining opportunities and more.

Carol of Lights
Kick off the holiday season as Grapevine’s mayor flips the switch that signifies the start of Christmas in Grapevine. The city is all aglow with more than one million lights on Main Street alone. The event will feature musical performances, fireworks and hot chocolate.  Free. No tickets necessary. This year planned for Nov. 23 5:30-7 p.m. Nightly Magic of Christmas light show display 6-11 p.m. Free. 

Parade of Lights
The Parade of Lights is the largest lighted Christmas parade in North Texas and has been taking place for more than 30 years now. Watch marching bands and more than 100 lighted floats as they make their way up Main Street. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for old Saint Nick because you never know who you might see. Free. No tickets necessary. Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.  

Cowboys Golf Club
We can’t say enough about the world’s first and only NFL- themed golf club - Cowboys Golf Club.  Dallas Cowboys fans will love all the memorabilia in the clubhouse and on the tee markers, the course’s hilly terrain offers some challenges, nearly perfect greens and the gorgeous Texas landscape.  You will be treated like royalty here. www.cowboysgolfclub.com
