Atascocita: Madison Grafmiller swam eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.49 at the UIL Class 6A State Swimming and Diving Meet.
She also swam in the 400-free relay team that placed 13th and the 200-free relay team that finished 14th. Tristen Fant swam ninth (23.77) in the 50 free. Isabelle Caldwell, Alexia Green and Adisyn Belaire also swam the relay events.
On the boys’ side, Gabriel Weikel placed 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 51.39.
The Lady Falcons improved to 4-0 in District 21-4A play after an 8-0 win over Anahauc last week. Jordan Helling scored four goals to lead the way and Kinley Hance added three assists. Diana Ramirez, Sydney Bray (two assists), Emma Kappl and Peyton Gray (one assist) added one goal apiece. Lauryn Harris and Kaity Unroe also contributed with an assist each.
Ays Fernandez, Alyssa Hernandez and Cathy Jimenez each collected three hits as the Lady Wildcats opened the softball district season with a 15-2 victory at Sam Rayburn early last week. Fernandez scored four runs and drove in three more while Hernandez drove in four runs and scored twice. Jimenez scored twice and added three more RBIs.
Miranda Pena threw five innings in the circle to pick up the win.
The Lady Mustangs won a pair of District 22-6A matches last week. Emma Ebert scored two goals and Elle Smith added another with an assist from Jenna Bodron in a 3-2 victory over Atascocita early last week. On Friday, Smith scored four goals to lead Kingwood to a 7-0 victory over Sam Rayburn. Maggie Maloy was also among the goal scorers in the match.
The girls’ 200-medley relay team of freshman Renee Alcala, junior Lauren Gray, freshman Carlie Solomon and senior Lauren Ives placed 14th in a time of 1:53.67 and scored six points for the Lady Panthers at the UIL Class 5A State Swimming and Diving Meet in Austin.
Giana Jonson-Mitchell scored three goals to lead the Lady Bulldogs soccer team to a 4-0 victory early last week over Pasadena Memorial. Kelsey Lyle added a goal and an assist while Noely Garcia contributed with an assist.
Abby Hall came up with two saves as goalie and combined with Madilyn Donawa on the shutout.
