Atascocita High School’s lacrosse team is starting their 2020 season off leading the nation. Last week Fanlax posted the standings for high school boys lacrosse teams, citing Atascocita as number one due to winning their match against Magnolia.
Head Coach Taylor Brooks commented on the win, saying “Yes we beat Magnolia 19-2, which was nice seeing as last year we lost in overtime to them first game of the season.”
Fanlax.com detailed their reasons for the rankings, including why Atascocita is rated better than another team that also won their first game. “Our rankings are based on each team’s best wins and worst losses. Atascocita beat Magnolia. Southlake beat McKinney. Magnolia is better ranked that McKinney so Atascocita, currently, has a better best win.”
As far as feelings about being rated number one in the nation, Brooks said, “That will be short lived to say the least. We just so happen to start playing before everyone else, therefore when the east coast teams start playing, and the rest of the nation for that matter, we will bump accordingly.”
Whether it is for one week or sustains for the whole season, the Atascocita Eagles can at least celebrate the moment of being the nation’s number one high school boys lacrosse team.
