Kingwood Park - The Lady Panthers opened District 20-5A play with a pair of victories. Sophomore Kendall Daniel scored 14 points and Biva Byrd added 10 more in a 49-29 victory at Caney Creek.

That came after a 69-26 win over Montgomery in the district opener. Byrd turned in a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Daniel led the team with 16 points. Freshman Marie McDaniel and senior Chloe Gresham scored 10 points apiece. 

Atascocita
The Eagles football season came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a wild 76-49 loss to North Shore in the Class 6A Region III-Division I finals. Atascocita was led by quarterback Brice Matthews, who threw for four touchdowns and ran for another.

Humble
Keona Chatman scored 20 points and Kameryn Phillips added 16 more as the Lady Wildcats opened District 22-6A play with a 48-16 victory over Sam Rayburn on Friday.

Huffman Hargrave
Senior running back A.J. Miguel was named District 11-4A Co-district MVP, senior quarterback Justin Shively earned unanimous Offensive MVP honors and senior defensive back Peyton Pierson was unanimously named the district's Defensive MVP after leading the Falcons to an undefeated district championship. First team all-district selections include wide receivers Luke Thomas and Garrett Halbrooks, offensive linemen Hunter Andrukitis and Ben Guerrero, and kicker Jackson Landry.

Kingwood
The Lady Mustangs fell 62-15 at Atascocita in the District 22-6A opener on Friday. Atascocita used a 23-0 first quarter to pull away early. Savannah Wilson scored Kingwood's first points two minutes into the second quarter.

Summer Creek
The Bulldogs defeated No. 2 state-ranked Beaumont United, 73-64, on Friday in the semifinals of the Clear Creek Tournament. Dylan Miles and Javon Jackson scored 19 points apiece to pace Summer Creek.
