After dropping the season opener, the Kingwood boys’ basketball team recently reeled off three consecutive victories, including a pair of wins heading into last week’s tournament in Arlington.
The Mustangs made short work of C.E. King at home, rolling past their visitors by a 75-44 final. The victory proved to be a definitive team effort. All on the Kingwood roster made their way into the scoring column.
Billy Gould, Nick Newman and Chris Mullins were among the many standouts in the victory.
The winning continued on the road for Kingwood later in that same week. The Mustangs held off a strong Langham Creek team by a 63-54 margin.
Kingwood was led in the scoring column by Nick Luckett, who pumped in 18 points. Gould and Newman contributed with 15 and 13 points respectively.
Tournament play continues this week with Kingwood participating in the Austin Anderson Tournament, which will be held Thursday through Saturday. Once completed, the Mustangs will turn their attention to District 22-6A play.
Kingwood raises the curtain on the 2019-20 district season when it hosts South Houston at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.
