Kingwood High School Cross Country Girls are finding success early this season. The varsity team took the champion title at the Seven Lakes Showcase Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 31 in a crowded 28-team field, besting Katy Tomkins (second place) and the Stratford Spartans (third).
Top Kingwood finisher senior Rachel James clocked 18:49 for third overall and sophomore Carson Parker ran 19:24 for 11th overall, followed by freshman Carley Ahrens at 19:47 in 17th. Freshman Skye Hoffman (20:03 in 21st) and senior Daniela Wisniewski (20:06 in 22nd) rounded out the Mustang score tally. Junior varsity girls fought hard and won second place. Great job, ladies!
The boys and girls teams had a strong showing in a solid field of competition at the Oak Ridge Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7. They continued to work hard and develop their talent in this early-season meet. Both boys and girls varsity ‘Stangs took third place. JV boys brought home second in a good showing. Freshman boys battled to take third place. Kingwood High School Cross Country is looking to keep the momentum going as they host the Andy Wells Invitational Saturday, Sept. 14.
