The Humble volleyball team is making a run as the district season approaches.

Last week the Lady Wildcats won four matches in impressive fashion. Humble swept all four opponents, taking down Scarborough and Nimitz by 2-0 scores at the Aldine Tournament, and sweeping 3-0 matches with both Spring Woods and Fort Bend Marshall.

Senior setter Le Andria Jackson is leading the way by not only setting up big hits from Tristan Wheeler and Trinity Clay at the net, but also directing the Humble attack and producing some well-placed serves.

Humble opens District 22-6A play at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Sam Rayburn.

The Lady Eagles split a pair of volleyball matches last week, rebounding from a 3-0 loss at Klein with a 3-0 victory at Spring. Atascocita (11-9) visits Oak Ridge on Tuesday before playing in the CCISD Tournament Thursday and Saturday.

On Friday, Atascocita opens District 22-6A play at home against Kingwood in a 6:30 p.m. start.

They look to rebound this week when they visit Port Neches-Groves on Tuesday and host Barbers Hill for a 6:30 p.m. match on Friday.

Laynee Beam, Skylar Nappier, Kenzie Wiggins and Kylie Willis are among the standouts for the Lady Falcons.

Mustangs team tennis opened the 2019 season with a 15-4 victory over Montgomery. Since then Kingwood has dropped a 19-0 decision to The Woodlands and fell in a 10-9 nail-biter to Bridgeland.

Kingwood finished last season ranked No. 19 in the state after advancing all the way to the region semifinals.

The Mustangs host College Park at 3 p.m. Wednesday before opening district play at Atascocita at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.
