Walden Country Club offers golfing opportunities for all ages, including school-aged children and adults. During the summer months, the club offers their Summer Junior Golf Camps for boys and girls aged 6-14.
These junior golf camps last a total of four days each and are taught and supervised by the Walden golf professional staff.
“Each camp affords fun-filled learning of the fundamentals of the game of golf. Every day of the camp includes a variety of games that deal with putting, chipping and the art of the golf swing,” said Olle Karlstrom, director of golf at Walden on Lake Houston.
The remaining 2019 Summer Junior Golf Camp dates include July 8-11, July 22-25 and August 5-8. All of these camps are offered from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Each camp participant is sure to enjoy the camaraderie and instruction while conversing with boys and girls that are close to their age and of varying skill levels. This type of instruction enables each junior golfer to learn and be inspired by his or her own peers.
“The intent of these camps is to help each child be the best golfer they can be. We work to bring out the best in each participant,” said Karlstrom.
All who attend the camps are required to bring their own golf clubs and to have them on-hand each day of the scheduled camp.
The cost to join a camp per child is $99 for Walden golf members or $129 for social or non-golf members.
Walden is currently involved with the PGA Junior League through mid-July 2019 as well. This is an annual program and another way to keep young residents interested in the sport and involved in the community.
