Allen takes gold, silver, bronze at state track meet
Kingwood Park senior Jacob Allen won the state championship in the 100-meter dash wheelchair event
at the UIL Class 5A State Track and Field Championships at Mike Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. Allen won the state title with a time of 17.2 seconds.
Allen also took home medals in two other events. He won the silver medal by finishing second in the 400 meters (56.49), just 2/10s of a second behind the first-place finisher, and also earned a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the shot put (23-4.25).
Senior Henry Kiner placed second in the triple jump (49-4.25) and sophomore Jaden Patterson was fourth (48-7.75) at the state meet.
Senior Jathan Bellaire earned a bronze medal, finishing third in the long jump (23-9.75), and senior Taylor Nelloms placed seventh in the triple jump (38-11).
The girls' 800-meter relay comprised of sophomore Lindsey Davis, junior Winter Bogan, senior Mari Robinson and sophomore Arayna Mickles finished fourth in 1:38.44 and the region champion mile-relay team of Davis, Mickles, senior Madison Savoy and sophomore Kaiel Kimbel finished sixth (3:52.68).
Humble's Ian Gilmore was the lone representative for the Wildcats at the UIL Class 6A Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Mike Myers Stadium.
Gilmore qualified by running the fourth-fastest time in the state at regionals in the 400 meters. At Saturday's state meet, Gilmore ran fifth in a time of 48.05 seconds.
Senior Tianna Randle won the UIL Class 6A State Championship in the girls' 100-meter dash with a time of 11.51 seconds and sophomore Dynasty McClennon captured the 400-meter state title in 53.25 on Saturday at Mike Myers Stadium. The Lady Bulldogs finished third in team standings with 38 points.
Randle also ran a leg of the region champion 400-meter relay team with junior Brandy Broxton, sophomore Dynasty McClennon and sophomore Morgan Taylor to a second-place finish (45.24) at the state meet. McClennon also ran fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.79).
Senior Angel Robles placed fourth in the boys' shot put (59-06).
Freshman region champion Emmy Nolte ran seventh in both the 3,200 (11:50.33) and 1,600 (5:23.40) on Saturday at the 4A State Meet.
Senior Brooke Koenig placed eighth in the long jump (16-6) and ran a leg of the 400-meter relay team that placed eighth (48.78) with senior Destiny Solley, sophomore Jada Rodela and junior Lauryn-Ashli Harris.
Junior Peyton Pluenneke ran fourth in the boys' 3,200 (9:34.08).
The mile relay team of junior Jalen Gordon and seniors Garrett Carswell, Bruce White and Donovan Josey ran third (3:14.35) at the state meet.
Josey and Trent Nolen ran fifth (1:53.96) and sixth (1:56.55) respectively in the 800-meter run. Josey finished 8/10s of a second behind the second-place finisher, as four runners hit the tape almost simultaneously.
Senior Carter Strom ran fourth in the mile (3:07.72).
