The Kingwood Lady Mustangs soccer team completed an undefeated District 22-6A season last week with an 8-0 victory over Humble in the regular season finale. The Lady Mustangs finished with a 12-0-1 district record and are 20-1-3 heading into the postseason.
Kingwood has now won or shared 29 consecutive district titles.
Savannah Moore scored a goal and added five assists while Annika Miller, Samantha Arrollado, Josie Steinmetz, Rachel Gillespie, Sarah Schumacher, Catherine Childs and Emily Zerkel all scored a goal apiece. Cami Wall also added an assist.
It was Kingwood’s 11th shutout in the last 12 matches and 13th of the last 15 matches. The Lady Mustangs yielded just two goals in district play this season, outscoring the opposition 98-2. They enter the playoffs on a 16-game win streak.
Kingwood leads District 22-6A into the playoffs where they will be joined by district runner-up Atascocita (12-1-3), third-place Dobie (9-3-3), and fourth-place Pasadena Memorial (9-6-1).
The Lady Mustangs advanced to the region semifinals last season and last won a region title in 2004. Kingwood won state championships in 1993 and 2002.
