The Kingwood Lady Mustangs soccer team continues its strong hold on the District 22-6A standings. Following last week’s play they lead the league with a 13-0-1 record. Kingwood is 18-1-3 overall. They entered the week ranked No. 5 in the state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Heading into last Friday’s match with Summer Creek, the Lady Mustangs had shut out their last nine opponents. Kingwood blanked the opposition in 11 of 12 matches.
Juniors Cami Wall and Mikayla Carlos are Kingwood’s goalkeepers.
In Friday’s victory over Summer Creek, Emma Ebert recorded the hat trick in the first half with three goals, assisted by Lilly Van Meter and Jenelle Dumais.
Last week, Kingwood shut out Dobie, 5-0. Five different players scored a goal apiece, including one from Ebert. Savannah Moore, Jenna Bodron, Elle Smith and Cadyn Hulse also found the net for Kingwood. Catherine Childs provided an assist.
Kingwood has one regular season home match remaining on the schedule. The Lady Mustangs entertain Humble at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. It’s also the 2019 regular season finale.
