The new baseball and softball facility for Humble ISD is set to open for the new season this year and will be utilized for years to come.
Michael Hinson, assistant athletic director for the district, said, “The new facility has a multi-weather turf surface that will maintain its playability and consistency through different climates.”
This is good news as the complex is sure to be used throughout the year with minimal maintenance and will be able to host other Humble ISD programs and/or games that would have previously been lost due to inclement weather.
When asked how alumni and the community, teachers and students are reacting to the new playing area, Hinson said that “everyone is excited and cannot wait for the finished product.”
He also said that athletes now “… can take the field knowing that their community overwhelmingly backed the building of this facility.”
Only time will tell if the fields will indeed be a change of pace for athletes, but the facility will no doubt be put to good use by the district’s players and it is a welcome addition to what is currently available.
