The Kingwood Mustangs recorded their third consecutive shutout, blanking Pasadena Memorial 35-0 on Thursday at Turner Stadium.
Beginning with a 50-0 Homecoming victory over Sam Rayburn, the Mustangs have tossed shutouts at South Houston (19-0) and again at Pasadena Memorial, to improve to 4-2 for the season and 3-1 in District 22-6A play.
Four Kingwood players rushed for more than 50 yards as the Mustangs rolled up nearly 300 yards on the ground. It complemented a 10-for-16 passing night for quarterback Grant Wall, who threw for 137 yards.
Wall also rushed for 67 yards on nine carries and scored the final two touchdowns for Kingwood, which cruised to a 28-0 lead at halftime.
Casey Roth led the ground attack with 72 yards on 11 carries and scored Kingwood’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run. Blake Parr added touchdown runs of 8 and 24 yards to increase the lead to 21-0 midway through the second quarter. Parr finished with 55 yards on seven carries.
Ben Jones also turned in a big night with 70 rushing yards on a team-high 16 carries.
Wall completed passes to six different receivers. Garrett Graham led the group with three catches for 65 yards, including a 42-yard play. Jack Dugas also hauled in three passes for a total of 29 yards, and Blake Hemphill caught a 25-yarder from Wall.
Earlier, Kingwood scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to put away South Houston at Pasadena Veterans Stadium. Parr scored on a 6-yard run late in the second quarter to give Kingwood a 7-0 lead it carried into the final period. That’s when Wall threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Roth, who added a 4-yard touchdown run to complete the scoring.
The Mustangs travel to Pasadena Veterans Stadium to meet Dobie on Friday before playing visitors to Summer Creek on Oct. 19 at Turner Stadium. Both district games kick off at 7 p.m.
