The Humble ISD Sam Mosley Relays were held recently at Turner Stadium. The Kingwood boys scored 145 points to take the title, followed by Atascocita (143). Other area teams, Summer Creek and Humble, finished fifth and eighth out of 10 teams in the boys competition.
In the field events, Kingwood’s Cameron Pavloski placed first in the pole vault with 13’-6”. Atascocita’s Kevin Campbell placed first in the discus with 148’-0” and Myles Wanza, from Summer Creek, took gold in the long jump with 21’-2”.
In the Sprint Medley relay (200/200-400/800), Kingwood’s team of Matteson Miller, Oliver Raney, Dawson Trudell and George Cyboran took home the gold in 3:36. On the 2000-meter Steeplechase course Atascocita’s Tate McMillan took gold in 6:29. The specialty events were finished with 4x800-meter relay, the Kingwood team of Trent Nolen Matthew Abrahams, Parker Terry, and George Cyboran earned the win with at time of 8:13.
In the distance events the Kingwood boys outran the field in both the 3200 and 1600-meter races. Carter Storm and Jeremy Rich took the top two spots in the 3200-meter with 9:41 and 9:45. The 1600 was a Kingwood sweep with George Cyboran, Carter Storm and Jeremy Rich finishing with 4:23, 4:25 and 4:28.
In the 800-meter Run, Atascocita’s Christian Gilmore placed first with 1:55. Atascocita sprinter Alono Woods took gold in the 100-meter Dash with 10.68.
In the last event of the day, the 4x400-meter relay, the boys team championship was on the line. Kingwood’s team of Oliver Raney, Matthew Abrahams, Josey Donovan and Dawson Trudel crossed the line with 3:18.19 edging out Atascocita’s finish of 3:18.68.
In the girls meet, Cy Springs took home the title with 174 points followed by Kingwood (116). Other area teams Summer Creek (sixth with 48), Atascocita (11th with 33), and Humble (15th with 5) out of 18 teams in the girls meet.
In the field events, Kingwood’s Jordan Charles won the high jump with 5’-6”.
In the specialty events, Kingwood’s Daniela Wisiniewski took the bronze in the steeplechase with 7:55. In the 4x800-meter relay Kingwood’s team of McKenzie Clark, Megan Eichler, Eden Pratt and Jessica Hergott took first place with 9:59.
In the distance events the Kingwood Girls were just as dominate as the boys taking the top two spots in both the 3200-meter and 1600-meter races. In the 3200-meter Sarah Antrich and Rachel James finished with 11:23 and 11:24. In the 1600-meter Sarah Antrich and Jessica Hergott finished with 5:11 and 5:12.
