The 2019-20 girls basketball season found some of the area’s top athletes competing at a high level. Here is a list of all-district players from area schools:
Atascocita finished second in District 22-6A with a record of 14-2. The Lady Eagles recorded a 32-6 record overall and advanced to the area round of the playoffs. Elyssa Coleman was named the District 22-6A Most Valuable Player. The District 22-6A Defensive Player of the Year went to Kyleigh McGuire. In addition, both Blake Matthews and Dede Davis earned All-District 22-6A First Team honors. Kori Fenner and Makaylee Duhon were named to the all-district second team.

After winning a state championship one year ago, which was their second state title in five years, the Huffman Hargrave Falcons softball team looked like a dominant force early in the season before the break forced by the coronavirus pandemic. They finished the pre-district slate very strong with a run that included a win over Santa Fe, who at the time was No. 3 in the state 5A rankings. The Falcons are in 4A.

Hargrave High School Head Coach Scott Barrett was named Coach of the Year for District 21-4A for the fifth time in his eight years as head coach. The Digital Audio Technology teacher and coach has been with the district a total of nine years.
