Atascocita: The Eagles split a pair of District 22-6A games last week. After an 87-58 victory over Humble early last week, the No. 6 state-ranked Eagles dropped a 45-38 overtime game at Kingwood to close the regular season.

The Kingwood Mustangs boys basketball team prepared for the postseason with a thrilling 45-38 overtime victory against No. 6 state-ranked Atascocita. It was a fitting way to celebrate Senior Night with Kingwood having already clinched a playoff spot, improving to 21-10 on the season and 11-4 in District 22-6A play. 

The Humble Civic Center was abuzz with excited students and proud families during a National Signing Day event held Wednesday morning, Feb. 12.

The Atascocita Eagles and Summer Creek Bulldogs boys basketball teams had played two games against one another before last Tuesday night, with both teams winning one game each.

Needing a win in Tuesday night’s rubber match to keep their district title hopes alive, the Eagles saw Summer Creek jump out to a quick lead, and then rally back for a 61-54 win which ended the Bulldogs 27-game district win streak.

The next two athletic seasons are sure to bring the Texas heat in Humble ISD as the University Interscholastic League (UIL) announces realignment that puts Humble ISD schools in a super district with Galena Park’s North Shore High School for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.

The Kingwood High School girls soccer team is seeking more than just wins on the field this season as they support Head Coach Pres Holcomb in a fight against an advanced-stage cancer.
