As if winning their second state championship in five years and the accolades that rolled in from their state title season weren’t enough, the Huffman Hargrave Falcons softball team had one more special moment two weeks ago.

Jacob Allen, who just finished his junior year at Kingwood Park High School, first came to America as a member of the Host Ukraine Orphan Initiative for a winter visit in 2015, longing to find a family to love.

Following a season which ended with the second state title in five years for the Huffman Hargrave Falcons softball program, the Falcons returned home to more district – and even state and national – honors.

The Kingwood baseball team recently completed its best season in more than a decade, so it comes as no surprise that the Mustangs dominated the 22-6A All-District Team.

Katy Janes led Huffman Hargrave to its second state championship in five years, tossing a pair of shutouts at the UIL Class 4A State Tournament at McCombs Field in Austin on the campus of the University of Texas.

Though the Huffman Hargrave Falcons fell in the regional semifinals for the second consecutive year, the Falcons baseball program had much to celebrate this season.
