Houston, TX - Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin would like to make residents aware, Lake Houston is currently in the process of being lowered from a level of 42.39 ft to 42.0 ft in preparations for tonight's inclement weather. This lowering is consistent with the City's plan to lower the level of Lake Houston temporarily when the forecast for rain in the San Jacinto Watershed is 3 inches within a 24 hour period.

The City of Houston began lowering at noon. Once the lake reaches a level of 42.0 ft the Coastal Water Authority will begin to manage the lake level under their normal protocols monitoring the tributary inflows and adjusting the gate levels as needed. Property owners should secure property along the shoreline. Lake levels can be monitored in real-time by visiting the Coastal Water Authority website.
After the threat of inclement weather retreats from our area tomorrow morning Lake Houston will be allowed to refill naturally from rain water runoff back to full pool which is 42.5 ft.
