Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community. The grand elegance of the downtown Houston Club was the perfect venue for Village Learning Center’s (VLAC) 10thannual gala. From the moment guests reached the top of the gorgeous staircase, they were greeted by the incomparable piano music of musical savant and Villager, Shane Hetherington, a host of good friends, and a fabulous silent auction. It was a night to remember as VLAC Founder Kim Brusatori was honored for her vision, passion and determination to provide programs, choices, residence, and so much more for adults with disabilities. Once again, auctioneer Patrick Kelley brought in the big bucks; Channel 11’s Deborah Duncan delighted the crowd as emcee; Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88’s provided an evening of dancing. The big hit, of course, was the Villagers’ performance of the “Curly Shuffle!” The theme was “Black & White Ball,” and the elegantly clad crowd was subdued sophistication, perfectly accented by occasional splashes of silver and bling, with a hint of jewel tones, so stunning on beauties Janet Huberty (emerald) and Emily Medley (ruby). Among the guests who filled the ninth floor Texas Room: Leonard Brusatori; Scott Pignolet; Greg and gala chair extraordinaire Marie Halvatzis; Houston City Councilman Mike Sullivan and wife Kim; State Representative Elect Dan and Janet Huberty; Dr. Jim and Carolyn Davis; Nancy Reed; David and Hildy Bubier; Joe and Eileen Simonetty; John Darst; Aggie Green; Charlene Turner; Corinn Price; Laurie Hiett; Roger and Anne Schuelke; Rick and Dorothy Alspaugh; Katherine Persson with her lovely daughter; Grant and Elizabeth Chapman; Curtis and Kim Maxey; Jason and Emily Medley; Steve and Jennifer Dantzler; Steve and Trish King; Robert and Jayme Scarfo; Steve and Lisa Prusak; Tim and Andrea Lee; Chad and Devon Alexander; Greg and Beth Welch; Chester and Shirley Vlaun; Chuck Kramer; Ellen Schmidt; Sandy Stafford; Peter and Judy Mantel; Drew & Sherry Verret.
