Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community. Golf carts carried guests and gifts up the drive to the beautifully decorated home of Jack and Lynn Fields where bell ringers chimed the sounds of the season. Guests were greeted at the door by Guy and Diane Sconzo and Larry and Cynthia Calvert Shiflet, and toys donated for HAAM were piled up on the spiral staircases. Women of Atascocita United Methodist Church catered the delicious food, and CJ’s Promotions provided the wine. Faces in the handsome/beautiful crowd included: Sam and Diana Garbis; Wayne and Millie Garrison; George and Mazie Williams; Dan Huberty; Addie Wiseman; Corinn Price; Jim and Mary Brenner; Robert and Jayme Scarfo; Chad and Devon Alexander; Carl and Colene Joiner; Steve and Linda Head; Mike and Linda Woehst; Ed and Sara Nowak; Dave and Linda Prator, Dick Waller and Michelle Parnell; Dave and Gwendolyn Condeleo Crawford; Byron and Lynette Calfee; Skip Curry, and about a hundred others. Happiest news of the night: Nick and Tricia (Ryan) Racine are expecting a baby in May! It was a warm reunion of beautiful and accomplished women filling the fireplace reception room at Homewood Suites. Former recipients of FamilyTime’s Women of Achievement, including Carolyn McCarty, Christine Price, Tamara Paul, Linda Dumas Bernal, Danell Fields, Penny Westerfeld, Sharon Lewis, and Hildy Bubier welcomed the 2009 winners to the sisterhood. Janell Klosterboer turned 40 in a warehouse! Party planners turned an Atascocita warehouse into a rock star event to surprise Janell, who thought she was running an errand with friends Annette Isbell and Lisa Bradford. When the doors opened, 100 of those nearest and dearest to Janell appeared. The girls wore black shirts that said “Fabulous at 40” in pink, with a gray “J” on them. Hubby Travis and great friend Beth Lane pulled off a total surprise and a fun filled evening, complete with DJ, a delicious pink, black and white birthday cake, and a 20-foot-long banner for guests to sign. No warehouse and no pink, but Wayne Garrison also celebrated his 40th with friends and family who hosted a surprise party at Raffa’s. Romantic news: On a recent cruise, Alan Osborne proposed to Kathy LeCompte, who of course, said “yes.” Alan just happened to have a fabulous engagement ring to slip on her finger. Happy anniversary to Randy and Tammy Smith who celebrated their 25th in Hawaii. The Dillard’s annual “Scentsational” event was a wonderful evening filled with beautiful people, great food, door prizes, and entertainment. It was the perfect setting for launching Diane Blanco’s new blog Lipstick Digest. Nancy Bumgarner spent the evening hand painting exquisite Ralph Lauren perfume bottles and Christmas ornaments. Several folks from our area make a yearly trek to Nutcracker Market for holiday shopping, and this year was no exception. Shoppers in the Friday crowd included Dawn Koceja, Susan McDaniel, Tina Denoville, Beth Whittier, Pam Tuley, Karen Cassidy, Cathy Owen, and Billie Wheat. Thoughts about next year include a chauffeured limo bus with a driver to carry the packages! Eddie and Lisa Miller hosted a “naked wine” party at their lovely Summerwood home, and no, it isn’t what you think! Guests were asked to bring a bottle of wine with the label removed from it – hence, naked wine. Everyone enjoyed guessing which regions the wines came from, along with sampling a variety of great food ranging from brie to brisket to boudin. Faces in the (completely dressed) crowd included Dr. Charles and Gail Grant, Dr. Susan and Robert Lunson; Nell Hatcher; and Brenda Landry.
