Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community! Bravo to soloists Dr. Todd Miller and Ms. Marion Russell Dickson who will perform in a concert of 20th century contemporary art songs at Carnegie Hall March 14. Todd and his accompanist Jay Whatley are faculty members at Lone Star College-Kingwood, and Todd directs the Kingwood Chorale. For more information visit www.DCINY.org. This week’s featured event: The third annual Mad Hatters Luncheon will be Friday, March 6, at Kingwood Country Club. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the hat judging contest begins at 11:15. While hats are not required, they are a fun part of the day, and I am honored once again to be a contest judge. Judging categories: Most Beautiful, Most Humorous, Best Ensemble, Best Group and Mad Hatters Choice. There will be a delicious lunch, an incredible silent auction, and a fabulous informal style show presented by event co-chair Annette Wood, her spring showing of the latest “W Collection.” The real treat of the day, however, is the presentation of songs and dances by talented local students in Centre Stage’s performances of “Disney’s Sleeping Beauty” and “You There in the Back Row.” As in previous years, proceeds benefit Centre Stage. Luncheon tickets are $35 and $50 and can be purchased at Annette’s Rue Royal in Kingwood or call Annette at 281-360-9734. Annette’s co-chair Gina Remmes and the talented event committee promise an afternoon of great fun and entertainment.
