Humble ISD Rodeo kicked off with a bang at the annual Pancake Breakfast and Renegade Roundup at Golden Corral. Emcee and musician David Pierce kept everyone entertained while they enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet. Several folks were “arrested” and put in the “GC Jail,” where they could be bailed out for a $100 donation to the Humble ISD Education Committee. Kingwood Musical Arts Society (KMAS) hosted their Annual Patron Event (rescheduled due to Hurricane Ike) at the lovely home of Kenneth and Annette Hall. The organization celebrated the KMAS 20th anniversary with an evening of food, wine and music that was attended by more than 100 music lovers. Todd Miller and Jim Stubbs reported on upcoming performances of The Kingwood Chorale and Kingwood Big Band and presented a delightful musical program, including vocalists and a jazz combo. Chairman of the Board, David Livingston, served as emcee for the festivities. The event was catered by Hasta La Pasta and a varied selection of wines was generously donated by Bill Chenault of Oak Ridge Winery. This week’s featured event: The annual Humble ISD Education Foundation Gala will be held Friday, April 3 at the Humble Civic Center. This year’s theme is “Bikers and Bling, Hog Wild for Education!” Rev up your Harley for an evening of fun and a great cause. Proceeds will fund innovative classroom projects, teacher and staff development programs and grants to enhance curriculum and technology within the district. McKay Citizen of the Year. The Kingwood Wine Club celebrated Ground Hog Day at Zammitti’s, enjoying everything from appetizers to zinfandel. Actually, it was a Zinfandel Wine Tasting that just happened to be Feb. 2-any excuse for a party! The “8 Seconds” Band will perform a free, open-to-the-public concert from 7-10 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and coolers and order “to go” from Kings Harbor restaurants. Keller Williams will host a Chamber after-hours before the concert, from 5 – 7pm at 4501 Magnolia Cove. Donations and pledges will be appreciated to help equip the Chamber’s new offices.
