Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community! A standing ovation for the magnificent production of Handel’s “Messiah” performed by our own Kingwood Chorale and Chamber Orchestra at Kingwood United Methodist Church! Bravo to director Dr. Todd Miller and talented soloists Mark Nystrom, Lori Miller, Rick McKinney, Deborah Wedekind, Carla Russo, Beth Higgins, Melinda Hoyer, Laura Nielsen, Gary Showalter and Ryan Boots. Faces in the crowd of hundreds: Rev. Jim and Debbie Welch; Jack and Paula Cade; Paul and Barbara Dickson; Ed and Teresa Dormer; Robert and Susan Lunson; Mike and Lynn Boyd; and Eileen Booher. Setting the stage for an extra special gathering of friends, Joe and Tracy Stunja, were the perfect hosts. They wowed guests with candlelight, glowing fireplaces, delicious food and beautiful Christmas decorations. Faces in the crowd: George and Marcy Butler; Dr. Philip and Joane Straka; Mark and Patty Lamm; Chris and Danielle Sasso; Gustavo and Gabriella Lieras; Rick and Michelle Gonzalez; Ed and Sara Nowak; Carl and Colene Joiner; Joe and Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary; Harris County Judge Jim Anderson; and Michele St. John. Tracy’s longtime friends and tennis teammates were also there: Pat Sommer; Cindy Bausch; Roxanne Jay; Anne Marie Cahill; Debby Liddell; Valerie Rizzoli; Kathy Hollis; Patsy McAlpine; and Joanne Ross, accompanied by their handsome husbands. Chez Nous Restaurant in Humble was the scene of an elegant dinner party for the Kingwood Executive Group’s Christmas party. Norma O’Donnell was recognized for the exceptional job she did in arranging the details of the evening. Among those enjoying a fantastic evening: Tony and Peggy Aalund; Alan and Nancy Derby; Fred and Donna Frey; Gregg and Terry Mielke; Sharon Lewis and Phil Lively; John and Anne Darst; Rob and Robin Burgess; Dr. Claude Larose; Danny and Geralyn Sullivan; Hector and Robin Martinez; Ted and Diana Price; Milan and Julie Saunders; Robbie Torrey; Laurie Ward; Sharon Carson; Jackie and Marsha Bernard; Mike Atchison; Daniel and Cherrie Ledoux. Speaking of Daniel Ledoux, he was quite surprised with a 39th (really, for the first time!) birthday party at the home of Cheryl (C. J.) Johnson. Wife Cherrie convinced Daniel they were catering a party together at C.J.’s. Many friends gathered to wish him well, including: his mom Lucy; dad Don; son Carlos; Cherrie’s mom Zennie; C. J.’s mom Judy; Dwayne Ulrich; Paul and Denise Krieger; Dave and Judy Luquette; Dave and Gwendolyn Crawford; Sparky Nolan; Glen and Alice Rekeweg; Jim Cook and Holly Oberst; Danny and Geralyn Sullivan; Gary Carriere; Christopher and Jill Curran; Frank and Kelly Schrader. Chris Bohli celebrated her 40th this month when wonderful husband Rob and best friend Lea Hartung threw a “Birthday Bash to Remember.” Among those toasting the birthday girl: Clay and Sammie Scott; Jim and Kristen Caldwell; David and Stacy Bloedorn; Mike and Lydia Chamberlain; Dolores Phillips; David and Melissa Heaton. There were many notable faces in the crowd at Glen and Alice Rekeweg’s party, including: Judge Lynn and Chris Bradshaw-Hull; Dan and Janet Huberty; Tony and Cheryl Austin; HPD Capt. Robert Montgomery; Chuck and Lee Ann Sprick; and Miek Staats, who is recovering and looking wonderful after double knee replacements. The Agape Sunday School Class of Kingwood United Methodist Church filled Raffa’s Restaurant for their annual Christmas party. The menu selected by party chair Eunice Dennis drew rave revues. The wonderful performance by Atascocita High School Madrigal Choir made it a perfect evening. There were about 80 faces in the crowd, including: Rod Dennis; Richard and Beth Whittier; Tom and Mary Ann Wussow; Todd and Carol Sloane; Charlie and Judy Monaghan; Bob and Liz Smith; Ted and Marybeth Joslyn; Kirk and Carole Hood; Bob and Jane Bradley; Anne Elliott; Alice Pope; Bob and Ruth Carter; Pierce and Anne Treadwell; Les and Faye Wilkes; and many more. The Kingwood Wine Club celebrated the season with a wine tasting at the lovely home of Mike and Sammie Cook. The event was made all the more festive by the appearance of the talented Kingwood High School Madrigal Singers. Faces in the crowd: Howard Pitman; Cherryl Young; Rick Starzyk; Ted and Diana Price; Christopher and Jill Curran; Richard and Len Leofsky; C. J. Johnson and Dwayne Ulrich; and Paul Margaritas who left a few days later to join wife Sybil in Paris. The Sable Creek Cork Poppers Wine Club met for their monthly gathering at the beautifully decorated home of Allen and Donna Wilhite. Not ones to get in a rut, the group decided to trade the wine glasses for red martini glasses and sipped on martinis at this festive holiday event. Each couple also brought toys for the HAAM Holiday Toy Drive.
