Welcome back to Out and About ... the place that you can find out what’s happening in our community! Hugs and a big thank you to my beautiful friend Kim Sullivan, who not only did a fabulous job of filling in for me, she also helped hubby Michael Sullivan win his first term as Houston city councilman! Joining Kim, Michael, and daughter Paige at Homewood Suites for the victory party: Congressman Ted Poe, with adorable grandson Jackson Poe; Jessica Wellington; Dan and Janet Huberty; Jay and Mary Ann Lapeze; John Legace; Robert Scarfo; Darla Lindley; Dawn Harding; Bud and Ellen Johnson; Pete and Jackie Hinojosa. Jim and Pascale McIver are beaming over the engagement of son Richie McIver to beautiful Holly Pavlick. Celebrating the engagement and Christmas cheer at the beautifully decorated McIver home: Toby and Mia May; Bailey and Kim Dixon; Jim and Mary Lou McIver; Chris and Alana Pavick; Andy and Paula Kinsella. Restaurateur Tony Raffa dropped in late after an evening of catering parties all over the area. Bill Shank was surrounded by beautiful ladies at Shank Wealth Management’s open house: wife Mary, daughter Courtney, daughter-in-law Shelly, and office manager Alice. The food was delicious; my favorite is Shelly’s tamale dip! Enjoying the food and festivities: Gay Nord; Christian Shank; Kenny and Nancy Shortsleeve; Tom, Barbara and Michelle Stream; Hank and Julie Pappas; Ken and De De Wolfe; Jim and Nancy Pinkerton; T. I. and Susan Cook; Randy and Judy Hartley. Christmas Miracles were abundant at the Kingwood Country Club on Dec. 3 at the lovely Mothers Against Cancer luncheon. Honoring precious Chloe Lykes, ladies adorned in holiday sparkles began arriving at 10 a.m. to peruse the abundant silent auction tables and greet friends. MAC had raised millions for Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center and its board of directors are an impressive group! The live auction was lively as bidders snapped up goodies like a cruise, a quail hunt, a chocolate lab puppy and a luxury suite at an Astros game. MAC Director Maggie LaBove greeted Joan Imperato and daughter Alison Brookby; Joan and Ashley Early; Kim Depping; Jeanne Walker; Pam Wilson; Halene Crossman; Carol and Phil Garner; Lynn Fields; Sara Nowak; Rick Alspaugh. Former Kingwood residents Trey and Sally Denman, whose loss several years ago of their own tiny angel Ann Denman inspired the formation of MAC, attended the luncheon full of appreciation for the generosity of our community. Bobbie Curtis hosted the annual luncheon at Walden Country Club benefiting Harris County Hospital District Foundation and Adopt a Family. The food was fabulous, (thanks, Chef Daniel) and everyone was waiting for the dessert line to open (dessert first?) There were sweet treats from Randalls, H-E-B, Mrs. C’s Pies and Delights, Judy Coon’s and more. Lovely ladies lunching (and gaining not even an ounce!): Janet Huberty; Meredith O’Brien; Doris and Rebekah Snipp; Paige Gary; Jan McCleary; Jean Thomas; Minda Kaltenbacher; Connie Jones; Phyllis Unrein; Susan Dunlap; Melba Eveler; Donna Jones, Angie Clark; Diane Blanco. A sad note in everyone’s heart that day was the loss of our little angel Addi Bender. Please continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. Speaking of Walden, Chef Daniel is bubbling over with excitement over plans for a gala New Year’s Eve. You don’t have to be a Walden club member to make a reservation and enjoy a meal that includes: all night long hot and cold hors d’oeuvres; full open bar; martini bar; jumbo shrimp cocktail; smoked salmon; gulf oysters on the half shell; Alaskan snow crab and King crab claws; filet mignon flambé; jumbo prawns and scallop scampi; dessert station; champagne at midnight; DJ Joey K with Randy Marshall and the Law Band (whew!). Seating is limited; $110 per person; call 281-852-3551 for Chef Daniel or Mary Rowan. Ruth Davies, co-hosted by daughter-in-law Cindy, opened her gorgeous home to the board and faculty of Holy Trinity Episcopal School; catered by Amedeo’s; presented by Laurel and Pam. Faces in the crowd: Don and Shirley Ellisor; Richard and Meredith Hawley; John and Diane Myers; Bill and Glenda McLendon; Mike Wendling, celebrating his first 39th birthday! Lea Hartung and Kacy Yarboro recently celebrated their birthdays at Chili’s with over 20 of their close friends. As previously reported, Kingwood College and our community are bidding farewell to one of our favorites, Stephanie Gillette, director of KC42, anchor and interim college relations director. Wishing her well at the Berryhill’s stop on the farewell tour: Diane Blanco, Kay Fitzsimons, Frances Andrews, Devon Alexander, Debbie Esparza, Garrick Joubert, Eddie Brega, Hildy Bubier, Pam Clarke, Diane Lumsden, Teri Jones, Danell Fields, Nancy Shortsleeve and Elizabeth Chapman. I’ll see you out and about!
