Welcome back to Out and About – the place to find out everything happening in our wonderful community! Kingwood Area Republican Women had a “kick up your heels” Christmas party at the home of Skippy and Robert Lupton on Sunday evening, Dec. 2. U.S. Congressman Ted Poe installed 2008 Officers: Alice Rekeweg, president; Betty Newton, 1st vice president-programs; Kathryn Dahlin, 2nd vice president-membership; Christy Lapeze (wife of our beloved HISD Trustee Keith Lapeze), recording secretary; Anne Geldens, corresponding secretary; and Len Leofsky, treasurer. Elected officials, candidates, and guests included Carol Poe (the oh-so-sweet wife of Judge Ted Poe); Rep. Joe Crabb; Judge Jay Karahan; Mike Sullivan with daughter Paige; Houston City Council member Addie Wiseman; Humble ISD Trustee Dan Huberty and wife Janet; Michael Wolfe, Harris County School Trustee, and numerous other elected officials and candidates. Other members and guests who attended include: Dean and Jeanette Guttormson, Barbara and Ken Jordan, David and Ruth Stevens, Paula and Donald Armstrong, Jan and Roland Pohler, Cheryl and Tony Austin, Amy and George Van Horn, Martha and Scott Von Gonten, Deborah and Larry Wedekind, Diane and Charles Wherry, Glenda and Rick Piacenti, Delbert Peterson, Christy Lapeze, Lanelle Johnston, Kathleen Jordan, Halene and Ron Crossman, Robert Scarfo and Gail Lynch, Jennie Warlick, Pete Hinojosa, Mary and Bob Blanchard, Martha Laverty, Verna Ekstrom, Bette Guillo, Anne Shannon, Syd Dudley, and others. The joint was hoppin’ and many thanks to Skippy and Robert Lupton for opening up their home. Kingwood Musical Arts Society’s “Holiday at the Harbor” was a huge success. Held Dec. 1 at Kings Harbor, there was a tremendous crowd of festive folks who lined up to see Dr. Todd Miller lead the Kingwood Chorale in song. The Kingwood Big Band joined in the fun and it was all you could do not to get out of your seat and dance! Seen at lunch at On The Border celebrating Chris Bohli’s Birthday on Wed, Dec 5, were: Lea Hartung, Donna Rogers, Courtney Lowe, Bonnie Dreymala, Kristen Caldwell, and Melissa Heaton. What a crowd it was, not snacking but gorging on great Tex-Mex food! Dec 6, Thursday, Lake Houston Shores Republican Women had their annual Christmas party at the home of Charlie and Ginger Hicks. Dinner was hosted by Joe and Nancy Crabb, featuring Tin Roof BBQ. (It is so yummy!!). Everyone brought a side. The presidency was passed on from Trish Pinckert to Ginger Hicks, with the swearing in performed by Joe Crabb. Connie Sue Kelly has adopted a Soldier in Iraq whose family lives in Humble. Everyone at the party wrote him (Ryan) a Christmas card. Connie Sue will deliver them to Ryan’s mom for delivery to the Middle East. Attended by: Charles Bacarisse, Dan and Janet Huberty and about 30 other guys and gals! What a festive evening and everyone reports that they had a wonderful time! Thanks to Charlie and Ginger for opening their home! Word on the street is that Bruce Greer, concert pianist and Dove Award-winning composer, performed with the Strikepoint of Texas Community Handbell team holiday concert. It was so uplifting because the audience was encouraged to participate in the annual Christmas sing-along that featured many traditional sing-alongs! Thank you Bruce for giving us such an inspirational performance this time of year! Our precious Pam Dickson will be back with us next week (Whew! I never knew what a job this was!). I am certainly looking forward to her return and I know her husband David is, as well! As Pam would say… see you out and about!
