Mark your calendar and get your ticket to attend the upcoming Holiday Marketplace — a popular tradition for the Lake Houston area for more than two decades.

This two-day shopping extravaganza is returning to the Humble Civic Center Oct. 25-26. Shoppers will be able to browse through a hundred booths from vendors who travel here from across Texas and beyond to display their wares.

This attraction is organized by volunteers from the Kingwood Women’s Club, a philanthropic group that donates all proceeds to charity.

“After being cooped up for so long, this will be a fun and exciting experience.” said Ellie Csengery.

The theme this year is “shimmer, shine and shop!” The civic center will not disappoint as it will be decorated with strings of twinkling lights, sparkling trees and a sleigh.

Opening night, Oct. 25, is a preview party that includes not only shopping but also complimentary wine and appetizers from 6 to 9 p.m. All-day shopping is the next day, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with complimentary Champagne to toast the reopening.

The KWC Bistro will also be open the second day and offering a smorgasbord of tasty foods.

In addition, the first 100 shoppers each day will receive a handmade fabric pumpkin in their shopping bags. Those attending can also win free door prizes and participate in a silent auction and raffle of many luxury items and trips.

Ticket sales are starting now! They are available online at Or they can be bought from three area retailers — Gnome Sweet Gnome, The Forest Collection and Atascocita Ace Hardware.

Tickets for the all-day shopping are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Preview party tickets cost $30 and must be purchased in advance. This ticket also allows entry for shopping the second day.

The thousands of shoppers then have the added benefit of knowing that they are also doing good for their community. All proceeds from ticket sales and a percentage of the booth sales go to charity.

“In the past, this event has allowed us to give away $100,000 and we hope this year will be bigger than ever,” said Kathy Adkins, the club’s ways and means chairwoman.

The center is located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway in Humble. Parking is free.
