The Humble Rodeo is one of the most popular events in the Lake Houston community.

It’s time to saddle up and ride again. The Humble Rodeo and BBQ Cookoff will take place beginning Jan. 28 at the Humble Civic Center and Arena Complex. This year marks the 74th rodeo and there are events sure to please the whole family.

The BBQ Cookoff will have a set-up day Jan. 28 and will take place Jan. 29-30. On the 29th, the carnival will begin and it will continue throughout the end of the rodeo. A margarita competition will also take place on the 29th.

Here are the following activities for the cookoff:

Jan. 29:

- BBQ Cookoff setup continues and competition starts

- Margarita Competition

- 4 p.m. Vendors

- 5 p.m. Feed the Public

Jan. 30:

The Humble Rodeo will take place Feb. 4-5 at the Humble Civic Arena. Here are the activities (they are identical for both days):

- Concerts immediately following rodeo events: Feb. 5 is Texas country artist Josh Ward and Feb. 6 is the duo of Roger Creager and Kevin Fowler while they tour as “Dos Borrachos.” Also, a special guest to the Humble Rodeo will be Leon Coffee, Hall of Fame Rodeo Clown. He will be at both rodeo performances.

Parking at the Humble Civic Center and Arena Complex will not be available during the BBQ Cookoff weekend but will be available during rodeo weekend for $10. Free parking will be provided throughout at Humble High School with a free shuttle.

This year, the rodeo will not have animals from the livestock show. In the past, the Humble Livestock show ran the week before the rodeo and the animals were still in the pavilion during the Friday night events, but due to the school calendar having been changed due to the pandemic, they will not be on site during the week of the rodeo; the rodeo will have a petting zoo for attendees to enjoy.
