Carnival Features the Music of Johnny Cash and Barbershop Quartet Favorites

Harris County Precinct 4 brings an old-fashioned carnival with a twist to the Humble Civic Center Wednesday, March 18, from noon to 3 p.m.

Although most carnivals cater to children and youth, Precinct 4’s Spring Fling Carnival will feature an afternoon of food, live musical entertainment, carnival games, a petting zoo, and a pie baking exclusively for those 50 and older. Performers include Bennie Wheels, a local Texas artist who will play the music of Johnny Cash, and Grandmas’ Boyfriends Barbershop Quartet.

All pie baking contest entries must be home baked and come in a disposable 9-inch pie tin. Pies will be judged at 1 p.m. based on taste, presentation, originality, and crust flakiness. Entries should be left in the pie contest area, west of the stage. Registration is not required to participate in the pie baking contest.

James Coney Island will provide chili and cheese hotdogs, chips, drinks, and dessert. No alcohol is permitted. Transportation is available for those 50 and older from the following locations at 11 a.m.:

Champion Forest Baptist Church Jersey Village, 16518 Jersey Drive in Jersey Village
