Alzheimer's Foundation holds candle-lighting, balloon-release ceremony

Lighted balloons filled the night sky and twinkled like stars as they floated off in the distance – purple to honor those battling Alzheimer’s and white to remember those who have passed. The National Commemorative Lighting sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America was hosted by Autumn Grove Cottage, Sarah Care Adult Day Care, Silverado Senior Living and Visiting Angels. The ceremony is an annual event recognizing Americans who have been or will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease or related illness and is held each November in recognition of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Members of the Kingwood Park High School orchestra, directed by Michael Astwood, provided music for the event.
