First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood’s ‘Festival of Angels’ will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. This is the 20th anniversary of the festival put on by FPC-Kingwood. It serves the community in two ways. First, it is a wonderful Christmas market and bazaar offering a chance to find wonderful products from local artisans and retailers. Additionally, proceeds from the festival go toward several mission projects, including some right here in the community. People can browse through a number of vendor stalls ranging from Christmas ornaments to women’s apparel to specialty food items. The festival also offers a children boutique with clothing for little ones and a Hacker Heaven offering used golf, tennis and racketball equipment. Additionally, a Book Nook has a wide array of books and the Fabulous Finds offers the intrigue of several yards sales under one roof. If all this shopping works up an appetite, the festival has a Hungry Halo Cafe as well as take-out food in the Manna To Go area and a Sweet Shoppe. The silent auction offers the opportunity to bid on a number of items. In past years, biddable items have included tickets to professional sports events as well as weekend getaways. The conclusion of the bidding often involves a frenzy of activity as bidders try to secure the most desired items. One of the local charities that benefits from the festival is HAAM - Humble Area Assistance Ministries. HAAM has served the Humble/Kingwood community for more than 20 years as an interfaith organization, united with others in the community to serve basic needs to those in financial crisis and provide assistance towards self-sufficiency. The Festival of Angels is located at 5520 Kingwood Drive. For more information, visit fpc-kingwood.org/festival-of-angels.
