The Christian Indie Rock group, LADEN, is set to release their second Extended Play album, or EP, early this summer when they open at an Humble venue for the nationally recognized group SKILLET. Formally known as the Jarad Miller Band, LADEN consists of five unique talents, all from the north Houston area, who have joined together with one ambition: to make an impact on the world, especially the music industry, with their engaging guitar tunes mixed with strong, vibrant vocals all put together with a tasteful rhythm. The band consists of five members: Josh Sebren, Jarad Miller, Doran Woods, Michael Tellier and Josh Ginn. Sebren, 21, plays lead guitar and lives in Huffman. He is currently attending Kingwood College and is going to school for communications media production in hopes of becoming a production manager. Sebren is a versatile performer. He plays lead guitar, bass, rhythm guitar, drums, piano, trumpet, baritone and tuba. Miller, 27, founded the original band. He performs the band's vocals and plays guitar, bass, trumpet and the keyboard. He also attends Kingwood College and is enrolled in numerous music classes. Miller lives in Humble and provides the vocals in the group. His hobbies include playing basketball, writing songs and “perfecting the goat noise,” which sounds oddly entertaining. “LADEN,” said Sebren, “has come onto the scene with music that rocks your soul. Carrying unquestionable and deep Christian lyrics, the songs speak to the crowd at every show. Each song is uniquely flavored, keeping your attention the entire time. Unbelievable vocal strength, sweet guitar tone, and locked in rhythm round out a great on stage performance.” Woods, 27, resides in Atascocita with his wife of five and a half years and their two dogs Ellie and Spencer. Woods plays the rhythm guitar and contributes the background vocals. Tellier attends the University of Houston while living in Huffman. He plays drums for the band and joined LADEN in July of 2006. “Personally, I love being around and involved in music, especially being a part of LADEN. I hope that one day we could play music in LADEN for a living, but regardless I love being a musician. I hope our goals and our message would be clear after listening to our music and meeting us in person, but I know we want to maintain a Jesus like integrity and a servant like heart in all that we do,” Woods said. Tellier, 22, attends the University of Houston while living in Huffman. He plays drums for the band and joined LADEN in July of 2006. “My goal is to take this ministry and light up every dark corner of the earth with our message,” Tellier said. Ginn, 23, also attends Kingwood College and calls Humble home. Ginn plays bass and said that he is attending Kingwood College for his prerequisites for his degree. His hopes for LADEN include signing a record contract. The name LADEN, Sebren said, comes from Matthew 11:28 which states, “Come to me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Laden means to carry a burden, but not a bad one necessarily. “As a Christian band, we want to share the message we have been given, which puts a “burden” on our hearts; therefore, we are truly LADEN,” said Sebren. “We hope that given the passion for inspired music and more exposure, LADEN is destined to make an impact on the music industry, maybe even the world.” The EP release night is June 4 at the Faith Center International in Humble. Tickets can be purchased on-line at for $15 or at the door for $18. Photo: Left to right, the members of LADEN are Josh Sebren, Jared Miller, Michael Tellier, Josh Ginn, and Doran Woods.
