Johnny’s Pizza House, a Louisiana tradition since 1967, opens this month in the Atascocita. One really must “geaux” and try the pizza and muffuletta at Atascocita’s newest and unique pizza restaurant. John and Roy Arthur, brothers from Louisiana, are the owners of Johnny’s Pizza House. John, a long time Kingwood resident, is excited about bringing this Louisiana favorite to our area. “It’s been quite a run,” Johnny Huntsman, founder and chairman of the board emeritus, said. “We started out small, grew rapidly, and are happy to have Louisiana natives John and Roy Arthur open the first location in the Houston area.” From the “only link in the world’s smallest pizza chain” with a tiny store with three parking spaces across from a college in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1967 to the largest locally owned pizza chain in north Louisiana today, Johnny’s Pizza House has come a long way, tossing and turning the area’s favorite pizza without fail day after day. Arthur, is no stranger to entrepreneurship; he has had success opening and running his own businesses in Kingwood since 1984, including in 1984, he opened Ol’ Timers a gourmet burger restaurant Johnny’s Pizza House is a franchise out of Louisiana and the first franchise in Houston. Johnny’s Pizza House features specialties like the “sweep the kitchen” pizza, the company’s number one seller and of course you can’t be a Louisiana native opening a Louisiana based restaurant without offering a muffuletta ... with the original mufaletta bun and special olive mix delivered from Gambino’s Bakery directly to the restaurant. Roy was eager to share the fact that they have been getting many texts and emails asking when Johnny’s was going to open. “I moved to Friendswood 23 years ago and have been waiting that long for Johnny’s to get down here. Kingwood is about an hour away, but I don’t care,” one read. “As one of several West Monroe transplants in this area, we are all happy, happy happy,” said another. Roy said, “He is so excited, it seems not only transplanted Louisiana natives but the entire community is embracing the opening of Johnny’s Pizza House.” This establishment is inviting and encouraging all local sports teams to come out after their games. From weeknight specials to entertainment, this dine in, take out and delivery restaurant plan to be the go to spot for a great family dinner.
