A great time was had at the annual Galentine’s event. The menu was perfect with berry yogurt parfaits, mini croissants and scones, smoked salmon, deviled caper eggs, prime rib carving station, breakfast enchiladas, omelet stations and crème brûlée French toast with berries. And we can’t forget the bottomless mimosas. Spotted at this were Kelsey Ballard, Evelyn Brennan, Kyle DiNapoli, Teresa Featherly, Jeanna Merkle and her twin (or should I say daughter), Brandi Nesladek, Kelly Paull, Kay Manning, Deborah Pogue, Melissa Shelton, Ffjorren Zolfaghar and her gorgeous twin daughters. The best dressed award goes to Jillian Jordan with her amazing heart blouse.

Unattached beware! David Harper is the pied piper of the Lake Houston singles gang. He was seen by a dear friend at the Ice House with a large ensemble of local singles including Rachel Harlin in red hearts, Donna Dean, Joe Schultz, Peter Mantel, Ray Landry and Maureen Smith.

I wasn’t able to attend the Meet and Greet for Charles Cunningham at Dan and Janet Huberty’s home, as I was already committed to the Krewe de Bon Femme at the Clubs of Kingwood. However, as I understand it — it was a packed house in support of Charles and his bride Stella. Martina Lemond Dixon was also in attendance to show solidarity and to speak on critical issues facing our area as she runs for county judge. Both of these former and current Humble ISD trustees are committed to making sure Houston and Lake Houston, in particular, lower crime and keep on top of flooding issues. My spies spotted the infamous Casey squared. Casey Schrade en costume avec a gorgeous Girl Scout cookie costume, while assisting daughter Emma with sales. On a side note, cookies are available from your favorite Girl Scout and online at girlscouts.org. Casey Christman, Kathy Neal, Judy Cox, Deborah Rose Miller, Gru Guttierez, Steve and Kammi Kusner, Marquis Holmes, Jarrah Owens, Butch Sharpe, Kim Buish, Tracie and Riley Mieth, Nicholas and Emily Stander, Jim and Robin Lennon, Robert Scarfo, Cheryl and Tony Austin, Tracy Hobson, Chris and Jason Parker, Millie and Wayne Garrison, and Devon and Chad Alexander were in the audience.

Lone Star College Kingwood’s Health Professional Center is now open for students. They recently held a ribbon cutting for the community. What a great addition to this community. They offer nursing, dental assisting and hygiene, respiratory, occupational therapy and many other health care programs. The event was extremely well attended and hosted by Dr. Melissa Gonzalez, president of Lone Star College-Kingwood. Chancellor Dr. Steve Head addressed the crowd and introduced all of the dignitaries and trustees. Spotted in the crowd were Dr. Linda Luehrs-Wolfe, Maribeth Stitt, Diane Blanco, Nancy Shortsleeve, David Baty, Pat Chandler, Roycelyn Bastian, Dottie Lee, Jennifer Aubain, Henry Garcia, Tom Broad, Dr. Sue Ann Hereford, Myriam Saldivar, Dr. Ryan Chabarria, Mark Linabury, Michael Sullivan, Todd Miller, Kaaren Cambio and Dustin Hodges.

Kingwood Women’s Club hosted the first ever Krewe de Bon Femme at the Clubs of Kingwood. The décor was spectacular as was the attire, and les bon temps did rouler. The ladies outdid themselves with a wide variety of Mardi Gras ensembles. Hosts Kathy Adkins was gorgeous in a green dress “topped off” with purple hair and Doris Amy was shimmering in gold. Danell Fields was dazzling in green. Christine Zenker, ever la fashionista, wore gold. Other revelers included Fran Linton and George Peet, Charles and Alice Legarde, Paula Beste, Janice and Ned Fowler, Carole O’Brien in a fabulous jacket, Diane Hertzenberg in a glorious gold dress, Claudette McKee, Jacquin Spell, Ginger Burklow, David and Linda Prator, Erin Mattingly, newlyweds Marilyn Sue and Dave Grant. Pete and Linda Hernandez, Paula Emmert, Judy and James Thigpen, Karen and Steve Brown. Beth Higgins, ravishing in a marvelous Mardi Gras wrap, was accompanied by handsome Bill Campbell. Beth surprised the crowd with a rousing rendition of “God Bless America.”

Congratulations to Rusty and Laura Rivet on their 50th anniversary.
