2022 started off with a bang and several parties to attend. What with the new variant and people dropping like flies — we still managed to party like it was 1994! Both Kingwood and Deerwood Clubs hosted New Year’s Eve events. Kingwood was entertained by Mickey Hobbs and Brenda Guy helped bring in 2022 at Deerwood. World renowned and local ice sculptor “Reverend Butter” began the festivities with an amazing live carving. The resulting fire sculpture ended up chilling on the raw bar. The men looked dashing in their tuxedos and bow ties — and the ladies looked scrumptious in full-length gowns. Devon Alexander and Rachel Harlin were similarly attired in red off the shoulder full-length gowns. Millie Garrison looked stunning in an “updo” and short black velvet dress with polka dot toile. Kelly Paull was shimmering in red, while Eileen Booher was lovely in silver. Linda and David Prator looked amazing. The classy Johanna Nixon and her “date/husband” George were F.A.B. So sorry to have missed the piece de resistance — apparently the night ended on the patio due to a never-ending fire alarm, but always keeping in the theme of “fire and ice” the New Year arrived with a bonus fire truck!
If you think the party at the main club was less swanky, think again. Danny Sullivan, Geralyn Sullivan, Rose Sladek in gold, the nearly “departed” or should I say retired Twila Carter looked fetching in black and of course her crew was there — all extremely glam, particularly Christine Zenker and Claudette McKee. Thanks for blinging in the New Year so spectacularly!
While party hopping, I did notice that Red and Linda Dumas were bringing in 2022 with a group at Chimichurri’s. In addition, I caught Nancy and Steve Currell there as well.
Raffa’s hosted the fabulous Hi Neighbor luncheon and there were more than 100 glamorous cowgirls and belles rocking the room. Outstanding Texas centerpieces welcomed the boot-wearing, bling-adorned ladies who then laughed their way through a hilarious bingo game. Merrymakers included Kathy Johnson, Lynda Hocking, Dottie Mitchell, Dixie Frantz, Darlene Remmenga, Jennifer Yoder, Kay Caffey, Karen Palmisano, Annette Wood, Diana Van Horn and Tammy Holekamp.
Although I was unable to attend, I understand that the ladies luncheon hosted by Dan and Tara Crenshaw at The Woodlands Resort was lovely. So many Kingwood supporters braved the cooler temperatures to attend. Devon Alexander looked lovely in a red dress with a jean jacket, Casey squared (Casey Christman and Casey Schrade) were there along with the “Christine Parker posse” of Jennifer Carney, Shannon Walker, Janet Huberty, Beth Prykrle, Jen Karp, Angela Thompkins, Juanita Zavala, Daniela Sumbera, Audra Blakely and Pat Morlen. Kaaren Cambio was sizzling in her hot pink cold shoulder dress. Martina Dixon (attention local voters — please consider this amazing candidate for county judge) wore maroon, Tara Crenshaw was wearing a beautiful floral dress. Carmen Crenshaw was lovely in pink. I heard that there were tons of Woodlands Republican Women groups there to support Dan and Tara.
The Clubs of Kingwood hosted a “battle of the bartenders” margarita challenge. There were over 150 people in attendance. Reece and David, Christalle and Casey, and Kristen and Frannie were three of the teams from the Tavern 91 Bar and Grille, Stephan from the Forest Icehouse, and Josie and Katie from the Deerwood Club battled it out to see who could create the best margarita. In attendance were Billie and Phil Anderson, Kelly and Mike Smith, Catrina and Robert Beauchamp, Linda and David Prator, Theo and Gary Christman, Courtney and Greg Determann, Gabe and Crystal Hatfield, Anki and Jim Lerner, Rose and Mike Sladek with their daughter, Stephanie Sladek and many more. The DJ engaged the crowd with songs and dances and everyone had a great time. The winner of the contest was Reece Weig, who will go on to compete at the Hearthstone Country Club next Friday!
I have been hearing great things about the new chef at Nico’s Bar and Grill. George Martin III is rocking the pizzas and everything else, including a chicken Parmesan hoagie and the Emmy Lee pizza, all spice and sass no extra charge! We were there the other night and as you would expect, the usual crowd was at the bar enjoying George’s creations and some liquid refreshments. Judy Cox, Kathy Neal and Juanita Zavala are frequent guests!
