Poof, the holiday season is upon us and the merriment runneth over. I have attended so many gatherings this season, but due to the number of events, I have also had to elicit some support.

The December Hi Neighbor luncheon was a dazzling success with more than 150 ladies decked in glitter, sequins, pom poms and lots of red! The Kingwood Park High School Madrigals, led by the charming Ben Fahnders, got a standing ovation for their heavenly performance. Enjoying the luncheon at the Kingwood Country club were Marilyn Morgan, Claire King, Francesa Fowler-Franks, Kay Caffey, Susan Soderquist, Pam McNair, Diana Van Horn, Tammy Holekamp and Nancy Foisner.

The Partnership Lake Houston’s Party on the Green was a huge success due to the leadership of realtor extraordinaire Amanda Petree. Tony Raffa (Amedeo’s/Raffa’s) provided the delicious food. The club looked amazing — and the guests enjoyed a bid board, cigars on the green, ax throwing and corn hole contests. Casey squared (Casey Christman and Casey Schrade) proved to be a phenomenal comedy duo. Who knew that they were gifted stand up artists? They might want to consider taking their act on the road. Supporters of the club included Angela Benoit, Pam McConnell, Kechia and Thomas McWashington from HCA Kingwood, Linda and David Prator, Diane Heinricks, Cheryl Austin, Eileen Booher, Cheryl Howell, Chris and Vicki Sarvadi, Frances Andrews, Richard and Dawn Abrams, Terry and Mitzi Vaughn and of course Darryal and Connie Chandler … I mean it wouldn’t be a Lake Houston event if they weren’t there. The evening was topped off by hamburgers from Whataburger.

Mothers Against Cancer hosted yet another triumphant luncheon. They have raised over $7 million for cancer research. I was unable to attend this, so I asked a few spies for “intelligence.” It appears that Michelle Sorrentino was a vision in red with glorious plaid stilettos. Beth Higgins, Diane Blanco, Danell Fields and Christine Zenker looked merry, while Bebe Turner appeared in a festive holiday red plaid top. Amanda Petree wore a short champagne dress, and Carol Garner was in floral print, Miss Jackie Cate wore red and black, and Katie Stowers dressed in black and white with flashy red boots. Always elegant Brenda Miller wore black with lovely jewelry. Annette Wood was stunning as ever all in red. Billie Anderson had on the cutest “fur” vest and Ginger Bertrand sported a “ginger” dress while making sure everything went off without a hitch. Congratulations to Donna Lewis and Darcel Weller for being awarded Lifetime Memberships in MAC, although there were some “ladies” who chatted away throughout the program making it difficult for my scouts to hear. I’m sure that you know who you are!!! Also recognized in the crowd of more than 650 were Terri Parmerlee, Karen Moran, Jane Clement, Bev Wright, Nancy Dillard, Kathleen Butts, Robin Bozzo, Karen Boughton, Janet Huberty, Terri Stowers, Beth Dolan, Helen Reuland, Judy Williams, Kathy Smith and Jennifer Yoder.

Congratulations to the Grand Marshal and Humble Flower Shop owner Helen Smith and the Humble Parade, celebrating 30 years. What says “I’m a proud American” more than a parade. There were strollers and lawn chairs all along the route waiting for their favorite child and/or float to arrive. Emily and Nicholas Stander — whose tax/accounting business is directly on Main Street hosted an annual party to support the parade and the season. Everyone who is anyone was there. Tracie, Riley and Parker Mieth; Emily, Nicholas, Caroline, Sam and Patrick Stander; Sam Schrade brought his adorable daughter Emma; Erica Johnston brought Emma and Mason while Duane corralled the “cows.” Janet Huberty and her twin Cheri Huber were there along with Paige and Les Langley who were there to watch their lovely daughter Hope, Charles Cunningham and the city council were “floating,” while Mayor Norman Funderburk rode a la king in a fabulous classic car. The evening ended with the annual tree lighting. Many thanks to stunning Sharon Mittag who organized the judges wearing a long red dress. The judges were adorable Millie Garrison, hunky Scott Brady, the ever-gorgeous Jennifer Wooden and gregarious Humble City Councilman David Pierce. Bonnie Gardner and Top Hat Catering provided food for the reception.

Happy birthday to Jen Sitton, David Welch, Rachel Harlin, Tina Campbell, Beth Chenault, Eileen Alexander, Linda Woehst, Bonnie Williams, Emily Dorman, Janice Fowler, Belinda Gill, Meredith Austin, Eileen Bell, Jeanne Merkle, Sandy Brady, Terra Hallmark, Ellen Delap, Ann Dominick, Alta Basuldua, Cybil Herring, Kat Haynes, Donna Ballard, Luster Martin, Angela Lynch, Kim Province, Shernika Cagle, Marilyn Harkrider, Jennifer May, Mary Manifould, Kim Land and Stephanie Fisher.
