Welcome, everyone, to Out and About – here to catch you up on what’s happening in the Lake Houston area!
Kingwood Area Republican Women’s evening featuring former congressman Judge Ted Poe was well attended. Shannon and Rick Walker, Chris Parker, Eileen Booher, Jennifer Carney, Justin and Elizabeth Lurie, Terry and Jeannie Whitney, Julie Payne, of course dapper Dan and gorgeous Janet Huberty (I mean you had to see those blue sparkling heels to believe them), Sharon Lewis in a lovely black and gold top, Amanda Rossen, Julie and Milam Saunders, Juanita Zavala, Judy Cox, Pat Morelan in a charming rainbow dress, Gina Thompson, Ivan Canales, Alice Rekeweg, Alice Lawson, Nancy Fulton, Nancy and Ron Morrison. It was so nice to see a level headed politician for a change and of course Ted is a marvelous speaker who mesmerized the crowd with his memoirs. Martina Dixon was there and hello friends, Dixon had quite the announcement! Martina has decided to run for County Judge — yes, you heard me, and I expect you to get out there to support her!
The 25th anniversary of the filming of “Tin Cup” at the Clubs of Kingwood was quite the experience. The Charity Classic golf/tennis and pickleball tournaments benefited the ClubCorp Employer Partner Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.) and Humble Area Assistance Ministries. Dick Smith (pro) did an amazing job of setting up the golf tournament and Emmy Lee put on a tremendous tennis and pickleball event. It went smoothly and everyone had fun. The weather was spectacular and the field was full! Congratulations to winning team and event sponsor Louis Flory. Every year Humble Area Assistance Ministries brings out the best volunteers like Tracie Mieth, Millie Garrison, Connie Chandler, Darryal Chandler, Devon Alexander, Emily Stander and Gaby Flory. Other volunteers were Dina Powdrill and Kristen Rentrop from HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. There were 260 golfers attacking the Island and Lake courses including Jim Brenner, Charles Cunningham x2, Dave Martin, Scott Chandler, Nicholas Stander, Riley Mieth, Stanley Jorgensen, Wayne Garrison, Pierson Garrison, Anne and Tommy Coughlin, Joe Luciano and Larry Polich.
Saturday night was the official 25th Anniversary Party for the filming of “Tin Cup.” A video featuring several celebrities who participated in the filming was presented. The VIP party was hosted by lovely Linda Prator and was attended by approximately 40 Kingwood members who were extras in the film. Janice Laney looked stunning in a blue and white jumpsuit — and may I say, she is still stunning. Ellen Johnson looked fabulous in hot pink and white. Halene and Ron Crossman were in attendance — and also responsible for much of the memorabilia on display. Jackie Cate brought the original T-shirt given to extras. Millie Garrison wore an adorable blue and white polka dot sun dress. Connie Chandler looked perfect in a pink peek a boo blouse. Also spotted were Gail and Dick Ireland, Onnie Sherrer, Rachel Harlin (let’s just say stunning in black sequins), Anne Viault wearing “golf attire” and Vickie Lyda.
The post VIP event boasted 260 guests. Kendall Robnett, Kelley Earle, Cheryl and Tony Austin, Eileen Booher in beautiful blue golf attire. The ladies had the most fun of the evening when Kelly Paull auctioned off a night in the men’s locker room! For club members, this location is normally off limits to ladies, however on one special night in November, it will be a “ladies only” take over. There may still be time to get your “invitation.” For a $100 donation to Charity Classic, you can join the fun. The auction contained several articles signed by Kevin Costner such as a Tin Cup hat and shirt. The band was great. Kudos to Kelly Paull, Patrick Pettit and Bill Cerillo for a well-run and very fun evening.
Happy birthday to Theo Christman, Cathy Bellnap, Linda Copeland, Tammy Pesek, Brenda Davis, Dorothy Alspaugh, Jeanne Huerta, Dr. Julie Burnell, Claudia Gifford, Amanda Eagan, Anne Ferrell, John Corbeil, Luz Cervantes, Ginger Burklow, Carol Kollehner, Lisa Vaught, Lauren Rankin, Nicole Scambray, Tracie Mieth, Trish King, Rita Douglas, Mary Lee Irwin, Tracy Stunja, Julie Roberts, Kathie Martin, Mallory Wharton, Sheila Dickey, Chris Butsch, Lynn Fields, Regina Hall, Kelly Ryan, Richard Abram, Jennifer Green, David Prator, Erin Wright, Stephen King, Linda Prator and Rob Sawyer.
