Welcome, everyone, to Out and About – here to catch you up on what’s happening in the Lake Houston area!
Congratulations to Cameron and Tori Krieger! They have a beautiful baby girl, Kameron Makena. Congratulations also to grandparents Denise and Paul Krieger who, after three boys and two grandsons, finally have a little girl!
A hundred lucky VIPs got to take a sneak peek at Lake Houston’s newest grocery store 24 hours before it opened to the public. I’m talking about the H-E-B Market at Northpark - Northpark Drive and Highway 59, that is. You would have thought General Manager Blake Willenborg was a proud new papa and, in a way, he was. The Kingwood resident and his team of 400 H-E-B partners have been working around the clock to get the 102,000-square-foot store ready just in time for some serious holiday shopping. This store has all the bells and whistles you find at H-E-B’s newest stores (including the new H-E-B at Kingwood Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway). I was intrigued however, when I found out that the Northpark H-E-B will deliver your groceries to you – if you live in zip code 77339. That’s something I’m looking forward to. Kingwood Park High School’s Cyndi Vaughn brought along her Silver Star Dance Team who lined the entry, welcoming guests as they entered the store. Mission Northeast Executive Director Pam Dickson got the surprise of her life when Willenborg announced that her not-for-profit was receiving a $5,000 check from H-E-B’s Spirit of Giving program – and he gave her a huge replica check just to prove it. Lake Houston Chamber ambassadors were there to cut the ribbon represented by President Jenna Armstrong plus staffers Mark Mitchell and Katie Woodard. It was tough to see who all was there, my eyes kept glancing at all the H-E-B bargains, but I noticed Tom Broad, Mike Sullivan, Jessica Beemer, Stan Sarsman who brought along wife, Linda, Mark Linabury, Robert Scarfo, Don Gaddy, and Robert and Jen Sitton.
It’s a wrap for In The Pink! The fabulous project that raises money for Project Mammogram and other local health initiatives raised more than $135,000 with checks still coming in. Northeast Hospital Foundation chair Tim Baker welcomed co-chairs Cynthia Calvert and Tom Broad to Marsala’s for a fun wine and appetizers after-party where the good news was shared with Pink committee members. Enjoying the success was Brooke Baugh, Gwendolyn Crawford, Deborah Rose Miller, Patsy Oliver, Mike and Judy Geiger, Dr. Roger Brown, Diane Blanco, Millie Garrison, Rachel Enriquez and Janet Huberty.
Back from a fabulous 2-week paradise vacation (an early 50th anniversary trip) in Hawaii are Phil and Karen Boughton. After a 1-week cruise, their daughter Lorie and her husband Jeff Heuer met them in Oahu for the final fun-filled week. By the way, Jeff and Lorie were enjoying their 25th wedding anniversary; what a great way to celebrate. You will see Karen and Phil out and about until December and then they are off again, this time it will be a winter trip to South Carolina.
Over at the Clubs of Kingwood, the Stilettos held a reunion/reboot. Danell Fields brought the Stilettos together again for “Pumps, Pearls and Prosecco” to help kick off Empty Stocking, the annual Humble Area Assistance Ministries toy drive. With great food from David Welch and FireCraft BBQ and some fun vendors, Empty Stocking is well on its way. Enjoying the reunion were Lynn Fields, Gwendolyn Crawford, Millie Garrison, Kelly Paull, Devon Alexander, Robyn Choiniere, Connie Chandler, Janet Huberty, Diane Heinricks, Emily Stander, Tracy Mieth, Kathy Smith, Rachel Harlin, Kyle Campbell, Janice Fox, Brenda Miller, Mary Manifould, Cheryl Sowell, Ellen Johnson, Toni Jordan, Stephanne Martin and Tori Barrett.
