Krishna Dutta was born on September 15, 1938 in Gauripur, Assam to Uttara and Santanu Barua. As a young child, Krishna loved to play soccer and cricket with her brother and cousins. Krishna left her small village in rural Assam, India to pursue a career in Montessori education. In London, she met Pallav, and they were married on August 15, 1967. A year later, their beautiful daughter, Salma was born, in August 10, 1968. Relocating to Delhi, India, they had their beloved son, Raju on June 14, 1972. The family found an opportunity in America and first moved to Massachusetts and ultimately made Kingwood, TX their home.
Krishna became a beloved member of the community, having been principal at Rustic Woods Montessori School. For over 35 years, she created many loving relationships with her students. Despite her small stature of 4”10, students could feel her strong presence and imposing spirit. She was known to be a strict teacher and principal, but ultimately a truly kind and understanding educator who went above and beyond for her students. Krishna also was known to be an excellent host and chef, cooking for friends and neighbors. She always loved to prepare dishes from things she grew in her expansive garden. She loved classic Bengali music, Assamese folk music, and British rock, like the Beatles. An avid swimmer, Krishna built long lasting friendships from her swim club, the water lillies.
The world feels emptier without her presence, quiet laugh, and endearing smile. Mrs. Krishna Dutta of Kingwood, TX, passed away on October 27, 2020, leaving behind her loving husband Pallav Dutta, daughter, Salma Dutta O’Brien, son-in-law, Dan O’Brien, and two grandchildren Connor and Liam O’Brien.
