The pools are totally inviting at Breezes and the use of sailboats is free.

Do the chilly temperatures have you daydreaming about some fun in the sun? Breezes Bahamas may be just the ticket.

Recently, I had the chance to visit the resort now branded as super-inclusive. It seems theyve taken all-inclusive to a new level.

Sky Juice is a must!

Breezes Bahamas, on New Providence Island in Nassau, has ample offerings to keep you entertained constantly for the duration of your trip. New Providence is home to Nassau, the capital city of The Bahamas, The resort is located on Cable Beach. In 1957, cable was run from the island to Jupiter, Fla., and its name was changed from Goodmans Beach to Cable Beach.

I was most looking forward to relaxing with my toes in the sand, a cold drink and a good book. Whether youre like-minded or not, you wont be disappointed.

They boast, At Breezes, virtually everything you can eat, drink and do is included with no tipping allowed. the resort is friendly, colorful with a fantastic open air lobby. The focus is on the pools and beach - which are fantastic.

The resort has 391 guest rooms, which includes an eight-story west wing and a four-story east wing. There are five suites and 36 oceanfront rooms. All rooms include Wi-Fi, satellite TV, direct-dial telephones, CD players, irons and ironing boards, hair dryers and safety deposit boxes. We looked out directly to the ocean and enjoyed a small balcony. Other rooms have patios with lush landscaping. Before you book, you should be aware that children under 14 are not allowed at the resort.

The 12-acre resort is the first and only of its kind in the Bahamas. They offer rock climbing, tennis and beach volleyball, as well as water activities like sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and more. The pools are the focus and there is a lot of activity each day. There are plenty of lounge chairs, plenty of towels, a grill serving great burgers and snacks, and fun contests. Take note all ages, all body shapes and all sizes are on display. Everyone will feel comfortable here. Yes, there are bikinis walking by, but there are plenty of both regular folks in regular swimwear too.

Lounge chairs are set up daily on the beach.

They also have a jogging trail and fitness center, as well as numerous activities for each day of the week, on a list guests get when they check in. Those include things such as bingo, sumo wrestling, a piano bar, lip sync competitions, darts, hula-hoop contests, trapeze lessons (yes, there is a full-scale trapeze and lessons are free!), and many others. They also have a full-service spa, with private cabanas on the beach, available at an additional cost.

There are several nightclubs and live entertainment nightly, to keep you busy after the sun goes down. And for those interested in tying the knot in a tropical setting, free weddings are included! Thats right, for no charge, the happy couple gets a cake, a 5x7 photo, a marriage license, a minister, a bridal bouquet and boutonniere, just married T-shirts and more.

And, of course, for an additional charge other packages are available. The couple must still go and apply for their marriage license and bring required identification, but for $50 you can hire a personal escort to help with that.

The resort recently opened The Banana Boat, a new nautical theme restaurant, which replaced its former Main Dining Room. Its a buffet-style venue that serves three meals a day plus amidnightbuffet, on white-linen tables and booths. The Banana Boat also boasts a sushi bar, carving station, cheese and wine display, plus a regularly rotating selection of salads, antipasto, breads, soups and daily specials. You will Bahamian offerings like conch to try. Service is excellent and alcohol included. We never felt rushed or crowded. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally nice.

Do try seafood on the island as it is fresh and delicous.

For no extra cost, be sure to try the elegant Garden of Eden, which requires reservations and is the ideal place for a romantic dinner for two. Youll find menu items such as Adams Rib and Eves Secret. Martinos is more casual, where youll find many Italian favorites, with a tropical twist. There is no extra cost for this either.

The Garden of Eden is just one of the smaller, yet included, restaurants at Breezes.

For about $40 round-trip, you can take a taxi to the renowned Atlantis resort, or go to historic downtown, where you can visit sites such as the Queens Staircase, a limestone staircase built by slaves to honor Queen Victorias help in the abolition of slavery in the Bahamas; or the Paradise Island Lighthouse; or maybe stop at the Straw Market, where its said they weave anything and everything from straw. Clean, nice island buses stop at the hotel and for just a few dollars, you can zip into downtown for shopping (they make rum on the island and rum cake is a requisite) and more restaurants, especially on Fish Fry Drive, a lively, fun, on-the-sand strip where you must try the local Kalik beer and Sky Juice, a coconut concoction that is served unleaded and leaded. Leaded is more fun!
They offer amazingly affordable vacations (as we went to press, it was $217 a night for two people all inclusive) and United flies direct what are you waiting for? For more information about booking your vacation, go to
