During the month of May, the American Legion Ernest Shock Post 132 in Humble awarded the American Legion school awards to one boy and one girl during the 8th grade school awards programs at the nine Humble ISD middle schools. These awards are for recognition of the possession of high qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, service and scholarship, with the student selected by their staff/teachers. This is the highest honor awarded to an American youth by the American Legion. 

The awards were presented to the following students:

Atascocita Middle School-Rylan Nunez and Madison Hargroder; Creekwood Middle School-Margo Gregory and Hogan Anderson; Humble Middle School-Derrick Wayne Buckner and Jade Sowell; Kingwood Middle School-Katherine Geiser and Wells Kenny; Riverwood Middle School-Zodie Hammond and Mark Watson; Ross Sterling Middle School-Dahlia Ramirez and Marcos Verduzco Jr.; Timberwood Middle School-Hayden Conner and Genevieve Soto; West Lake Middle School-Emma Frazier and Dylan Woo; and Woodcreek Middle School-Maribel Garza and Patrick Eusto.
