The following is a message from Humble ISD:
To keep students and staff safe, and to support our community in restoring the stability of the power grid, Humble ISD is taking the following precautions for Tuesday, February 16:
There will be no school, including online, on Tuesday. February 16 will be a Snow Day.
Buildings will be closed - no events of any kind will take place on campus.
All athletic events/practices scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled. Announcements will be posted to www.humbleisd.net/athletics as events are rescheduled.
Monday, February 15, remains an Online School Day for middle and high school students and a Student Holiday for elementary students. Middle and high school teachers were able to post in learning platforms prior to the power issues, and students should log in if they can. Teachers will be flexible, allowing full credit for late work, due to the rolling power issues.
The district is cancelling school for Tuesday to:
Protect students and staff from potentially icy roadway conditions.
Support teachers who face challenges preparing online lessons for Tuesday if their power has gone out on Monday.
Allow district maintenance staff to check on the condition of every school.
Support the community power grid. In partnership with CenterPoint Energy, Humble ISD dropped the temperatures in our schools to reduce power consumption for the greater community.
Humble ISD continually monitors the weather. Parents and staff will be notified about plans for Wednesday, February 17, by email and text, and information will be posted on humbleisd.net/weather after buildings and power checks have been completed Tuesday.
Humble ISD encourages everyone to stay safe!
