This year, the Atascocita Eagles football program made it to a fourth straight regional semifinal, and the Summer Creek Bulldogs football team made history by reaching that very same round for the first time.
Now, in the wake of their seasons, both teams are taking home many 22-6A all-district honors.
Both teams were led by outstanding quarterbacks in Summer Creek’s Bryan Bush and Atascocita’s Brice Matthews. That was reflected in the awards, as Bush was named District MVP and Matthews took offensive MVP.
Five other Summer Creek players were named to the first team: seniors Angel Robles, Jack Zelezinski, Xavier Daniels and Brandon Neal and junior Devion Hargrove.
Atascocita, meanwhile, took the Defensive MVP award as well, with Bryton Thompson winning that award.

The Eagles had eight other players named to the district first team; seniors Kenyon Green, Tristan Heaton and Myron Morrison, and juniors Dylan Robinson, Darius Edmonds, Asyrus Simon, Daniel Onuwachi and kick returner and defensive back Taylen Blaylock.
Five other Summer Creek players made the district second team, with three seniors and two juniors. Second teamers included seniors Jamison Frazier, D’Anglo Price and Dylan Bolden, and juniors Ethan Schwartzman and Devon Holden.
The Eagles also had five players named to the district’s second team, but four of those five players will be back in 2019. Senior offensive lineman Matthew Martin made the second team, as did juniors T.J. Thomas, Jer’Marques Bailey, Leonard Randolph and Devyn Brooks.
The Kingwood Mustangs, who also made the playoffs this year, put 11 different players on the two all-district teams, with much of the representation coming on the first team defense.
Five different Kingwood players made first team all defense or special teams; seniors Ryan Vincent, Michael Mark, Bryce Snyderwin and Michael Van Uden, as well as sophomore Kaden Wooster.
