A magical Polar Express journey to the North Pole begins Saturday, Nov. 17, on the Texas State Railroad, a historic, 25-mile railroad between Rusk and Palestine.
- All aboard for the Polar Express Train Ride at Texas State Railroad -
The magical story comes to life the minute the train departs the Palestine Depot for the journey to the North Pole. (The adventure is even more fun when families and friends show up in their pajamas!) Enveloped by the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the tale as they are whisked away on the Polar Express. Once onboard, chefs serve hot chocolate and cookies as they recite the classic children’s book, “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg. (Be sure to purchase a book along with your tickets so your child can read his/her own book along with the chefs.) At the North Pole, Santa and his elves greet passengers and then board the train. St. Nick gives everyone the first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell (only believers can hear it ringing!) On the ride back to The Polar Express train depot, chefs lead passengers in singing joyous Christmas carols. The round-trip train ride is approximately 60 minutes long.
Enjoy historic Pullman-style seating and large viewing windows, thrilling children as they get their first glimpse of Santa and the North Pole. The Dome is home for the holidays! Based on requests by Polar Express visitors, the dome car, featuring the best view of the holiday decorations and lights, has returned to East Texas. Tickets will go quickly for this limited and luxurious seating under the stars. First class features table-top seating for parties of four along with Polar Express mugs, hot chocolate and sugar cookies. Seats are limited in the exclusive Presidential Class where keepsake mugs, hot chocolate and sugar cookies make this a truly magical experience.
Polar Express steam and diesel engine ride-along tickets are available, too. Be the lead passenger bringing Santa and all of the happy passengers back to the depot from the North Pole! Participants must be 18 years or older to ride in the locomotive.
Santa’s elves are so excited to welcome every boy and girl, 2 to 92, aboard the Polar Express journey to the North Pole at Texas State Railroad. As Christmas approaches, the magic of the North Pole intensifies. The season’s first Polar Express heads out of the Palestine station on Nov. 17 and continues through Dec. 27.
An amazing alternative to the busy malls, the Polar Express at Texas State Railroad is a very popular East Texas Christmas adventure. Demand is high for this special seasonal event causing it to sell out far in advance. Ticket prices range from $20 to $140 per ticket. The train rides depart from the depot at 789 Park Road 70 in Palestine. Visit texasstaterailroad.net or call 855-632-7729.
