HUMBLE, TX — Firefighters were responding to a blaze at or near an Exxon gas station Christmas Eve in Humble, the city said, and thick black smoke emanating from the inferno was visible for miles.
The fire department told Patch that units were already at the scene at Cold River Drive and Will Clayton Parkway. The blaze caused quite a stir with residents who took to social media to find out what's happening and post photos and video of the smoke.
The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office said on twitter a hazmat team was called to the scene.
The Atascocita Fire Department said it, too, had crews at the scene of a "large outdoor fire."
The Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department described the blaze on Twitter as a small trash fire.
