"I want to make sure people are informed about all the county clerk can do for them. I want to make government work for the individual, and I will work hard to ensure we have a reliable, secure, and transparent voting process," said Trautman.
The duties of the Harris County Clerk include: 1) Maintaining vital records like birth, death, marriage, and property records; 2) Maintaining case files for Harris County Civil and Probate courts; 3) Maintaining records for Harris County Commissioners court; and 4) Serving as the Chief Election Administrator for the third largest county in America.
Dr. Trautman was elected as an At-large board member for the Harris County Department of Education in 2012 for a 6 year term. She also ran for Harris County Tax Assessor in 2008 and 2010. She believes in making government work for the individual and saving taxpayers money.
"The average person who needs to retrieve a document from personal or property records at the clerk’s office is looking for fast and convenient service. My goal is to make that experience as easy and trouble-free as possible," said Trautman.
During her time on the HCDE board, she has served as board Vice President, chair of the Adult Education committee and chair of the Head Start policy council. Along with the rest of the board, she has worked to hire a new superintendent, presided over a 90 million dollar budget, and supported the use of federal grants that maximize tax dollars and create a savings for school districts and the tax payers.
In addition to her career with HCDE, Dr. Trautman has served as a professor of education at Stephen F. Austin State University and Sam Houston State University. She was also an administrator and teacher in Houston, Humble, Conroe, and Tomball ISDs. Before her career in education, she worked in the banking industry for Texas Commerce Bank and First City National Bank.
Dr. Trautman has lived in the Humble area for many years and is a member of Humble Area Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International – Mu Pi Chapter, HAAM Covenant Council, Girl Scouts Alum Asssociation, League of Women Voters, and Atascocita Lutheran Church.
