Connie Miles running for mayor

Social counselor, Connie Miles, is running against incumbent Donnie McMannes for Mayor of Humble. Miles has been in the Humble area for more than 18 years. "I want to give the people a choice,” said Miles. “This is a solid town and they deserve a choice on the ballot.” Miles believes that God called her to run for office. She hopes that people will work to make an informed choice on Election Day. As a counselor, Miles works with people from all walks of life. She graduated from Grambling University in Louisiana. If elected, her main concerns are to make certain that the police and fire departments have the equipment they need to protect the city and continuing road expansion. "Traffic on Will Clayton is bumper to bumper at 5 o’clock,” said Miles. “Besides widening the road, I’d like to look into adding a red light to facilitate easier entrances and exits into the DPS office.” Another thing Miles would like to see done is a citywide survey of residents. Since the city has experienced a lot of growth, she wants to see what the residents would like to see happen. Miles also hopes to draw new businesses into town to help keep the city "job ready." "Another thing is we might need to add is things like new parks, swimming pools and maybe a new YMCA,” said Miles. Early voting for the Humble elections starts April 30 and Election Day is May 12.
