KHS emphasizes dangers of distracted driving

NASCAR driver Brad Coleman, of Joe Gibbs Racing, watches as Kingwood High School sophomore TJ Gonzalez try to drive a simulated NASCAR course while holding a cell phone. Kingwood High School recently hosted this interactive exhibit sponsored by SafeWay Driving Centers and Nationwide Insurance. Students began the driving course without a cell phone and completed the course with one. “We show people in the simulator that when you hand them a cell phone, they instantly become a terrible driver,” Coleman said. The exhibit encourages students to keep their attention on the road, and not on distractions, such as phones.
