Adding a new skill to cosmetologists’ and estheticians’ resumes is the main focus of Lone Star College-Kingwood’s new class.

Starting this month, the college’s Continuing Education (CE) department will offer an Eyelash Extension Seminar from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Classroom Building A (CLA) room 100. This class is for licensed cosmetologists, licensed estheticians, cosmetology students, and esthetic students.  Seminar start dates are Feb. 14, March 21, April 10, and May 9.

“Eyelash extensions are extremely popular, high in demand, and can be a great career,” said Aimee Rodriguez, CE adjunct professor.

This is the first time the class is being offered at LSC-Kingwood; it is the first 18 hour seminar in Houston that is being offered at a community college and at an affordable price. Students will learn health, hygiene and safety precautions, application techniques for natural and dramatic looks, marketing and business aspects for the industry.  Students will receive certification once they complete the class.

“This seminar will enable licensed individuals to offer an additional service that will increase their income. CE wants to offer the latest and greatest techniques,” Rodriguez said.

Tuition for the seminar is $299 plus an additional $250 for the eyelash kit, which can be purchased at the LSC-Kingwood Bookstore. Individuals in Texas need to be licensed under the cosmetology umbrella of operator, esthetician, or eyelash extension technician to perform this service.

Eyelash extensions are used, instead of applying mascara, to make eyelashes appear longer and fuller. Individual eyelashes are applied to the natural eyelashes and can last up to six weeks.
