The public is invited to join theatrical players from Lone Star College-Kingwood Drama Department for the upcoming stage production of "Invisible Friends," opening Thursday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre. The delightful children's fable is by one of England's most successful comic dramatists, Alan Ayckbourn. Ayckbourn is the long-standing artistic director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough and the author of 50 plays which have been translated into more than 30 languages and performed on stage and television throughout the world. Once upon a time there was a girl named Lucy Baines. Ignored by her family, she turned to an invisible childhood friend, Zara, for solace. But when Zara ceases to be a figment of her imagination and comes alive, Lucy gets more than she bargained for. Egged on by Zara, Lucy wishes away her entire family enabling Zara and her invisible family to take their place. Lucy starts realizing life with Zara isn't what she expected; in fact, Lucy is in danger of losing everything. Will she ever get to see her real family again? "We are very excited about this production," says professor of drama, Eric Skiles. "The material is top-notch and the cast is amazing. We have a great mix of debut artists and LSC-Kingwood Theatre veterans. Our two-story set has more tricks up its sleeve than many of our characters, and special effects abound in this fast-paced fable." The cast includes Jennifer Marley as Lucy Baines; Lucas Farr as Gary, her real brother; Kristen Nemain as Joy, her real mother; Sean Rickert as Walt, her real father; Heather Smith as Zara, her invisible friend; Fabi Cho as Casey, Zara's invisible sister; and Daniel Calderon as Felix, Zara's invisible father. This production is suitable for children age 8 or older. For more information, call 281-312-1532.
